This 77-year old lady had struggled with wearing her upper denture after most of her old dental bridges had failed. She only had a few teeth remaining and this had led to her having temporomandibular dysfunction, a painful condition of the jaw joint.
A multidisciplinary meeting was set up to
- Rectify any gum issues
- Address the worn-down lower teeth
- Plan the correct bite set up for her jaw
- Surgically and digitally plan for upper dental implants
- Assess her fitness and tolerance for sedation
The patient did not have a lot of bone remaining but using the latest digital technologies the team were able to find enough bone to provide this lady with a fixed implant bridge in one day.
Fitting an implant bridge in one day meant the lady had the surgery and the prosthetic work done in one session, and therefore no more dentures! The patient was safely sedated so she was comfortable throughout the procedure.
After 3 months, the patient went onto have a beautiful implant bridge to give her a natural look, as shown in the before and after photographs below.
